Holdings: The library collection comprehensively acquires materials about Staten Island in all formats. The manuscript collection includes: The Senator John J. Marchi Papers, The Assemblywoman Elizabeth A. Connelly Papers, The Assemblyman Eric N. Vitaliano Papers, and The Theodora DuBois Papers. New York State Senator Marchi took office in 1957 and is the longest serving legislator at any level of government in the United States. His collection is particularly strong on the topics of Staten Island Secession, the Charter Commission for Staten Island, the South Richmond Plan, Abortion, the Temporary State Commission on New York City School Governance, Taxation, Transportation, Education and the Fresh Kills Landfill. Former New York State Assemblywoman Connelly was a Speaker Pro Tempore in the Assembly, the highest position ever held by a woman in the Assembly. She retired in 2000 as the longest serving woman in the Assembly (twenty-six years). The focus of her legislative career was environmental issues and mental health care. Former New York State Assemblyman Vitaliano was in office for seventeen years and some of his career focuses were solid waste management and wetlands protection. Theodora DuBois (1890-1986) was the author of popular juvenile fiction. Her family had long-standing connections to Staten Island and she was a resident for much of her adult life. Her collection includes the manuscripts for her works and family papers.

The Archives holds records of the University's governing bodies as well as administrative offices, schools, academic departments, and student activities and ceremonies, chiefly for the Morningside Heights campus. UA-CL administers the King's College Room, a museum room with paintings, furnishings and printed works from the period of King's College (1754-1776) and early Columbia College (1778-1850). On display are portraits of King George III and King's College's two presidents, Samuel Johnson and Myles Cooper, as well as later presidents and trustees William Duer, Egbert Benson, and DeWitt Clinton.
